En Plein Air in El Segundo was an outdoor “draw-in” that took place on the streets of El Segundo near  Northrop Grumman and the LA Air Force Base. Led by artist Hillary Mushkin with poets Diane Ward and Jane Sprague discussing landscapes, ports, and poetics.

In an on going instance of self-organized events in solidarity with the occupation movement, also in relationship to llano Del Rio’s forthcoming Antagonists Guide To the Assholes of LA, we hosted this dialogue at City Hall on November 13^th.

We really do love love but we’re asking to see the darkness, to lay it all out in one place. When you can hold the stink and the light simultaneously, then aren’t you really alive? We want your help in locating LA’s assholes. We want to know who makes you angry, we want to know what makes us hurt, we want to know where in Los Angeles has made you feel so much that you skip work and tie yourself to a tree.

For publication in our next free map/guide to Los Angeles, send us physical locations (exact or approximate) of assholes or asshole events, along with short (short) description of why they are assholes. Also if you did something alone or together (positive, negative, or wtf?) in response to one of these assholes let us know. Corporate, Military, Private, Public, personal, permanent, temporary. Let us know who or what is noir for you in the city of angels.

Our Contribution to the show was a collection of articles from The High Desert Peace Pipe, a long running underground newspaper published in the Johua Tree area. We selected and presented our favorite articles from the papers history.

The Llano Del Rio working group’s “Scores For the City” is  available now, free!

This two sided guide maps locations that have supported creative and radical behavior in LA, including freeway puppet shows, civic dance pageants, riots, and the gatherings of witches. The front of the map is an archive of documents relating to four  events. The backside is an exploration of the way non-conformist behavior in LA has helped shape collective consciousness.

There are two ways to get the guide for free if you live in LA County:

Bodycity in collaboration with Llano Del Rio,  performed and communicaed at the interchange of the 110 and 5 freeways, a dance specifically choreographed for the geography of Los Angeles, a city filled with phenomenal topographic features and an expansive freeway system

Overpassages takes its inspiration from trisha browns roof piece, performed in 1973—

“In Roof Piece, dancers telegraphed a sequence of big gestural moves from one to another along half a mile of downtown New York rooftops. No spectator could see the whole piece, but when the sequence reached the end and was relayed back the other way, you could see how the shapes decayed as each person picked them up and copied them…”

The full color, two sided, map sites and describes locations that support, dream, act and aid in the creation of an other Los Angeles. Beekeepers, Greywater Operators, Hacker Spaces, Cooperatives, Collectives, Art Spaces, Radical Places, Gardens, Swimming Holes, Cooking Collectives, Think Tanks, etc.

Participant in River Bridge. Rainbow. weaves web across the Los Angeles River .

On July 3, 2010 the Llano Del Rio Collective built a bridge to an island in the Los Angeles River. River Bridge. Rainbow. had participants weave a web from land to  island and declare the ways they participate in creating  an other LA. Later we crossed to the island, read a manifesto and broke bread.
